What’s new with the NANDA-I Nursing Diagnoses: Definitions & Classification 2021-2023
The 12nd edition of the NANDA-I Classification is now available for pre-order at our publisher’s website (https://www.thieme.com/books-main/nursing/product/5978-nanda-international-nursing-diagnoses).
Volunteer collaborators from up to 11 countries served in the Diagnosis Development Committee Task Force. As a result, we have a total of 267 diagnoses, out of which 46 new and 67 revised ones, with stronger levels of evidence.
Several changes were also made based on feedback from students, clinicians, researchers, and educators. The readers will find new and reformulated chapters with a focus on assessment, information on the use of NANDA-I diagnoses internationally, and recommendations on nursing diagnoses that require development. A new, detailed chapter on the revised level of evidence criteria intends to ensure that all future diagnoses submitted for inclusion in the classification represent the strength of nursing knowledge.
Finally, a robust revision of the diagnostic indicators was conducted to improve clarity. Whenever possible, MeSH terms were used, so now translators have standardized definitions available to ensure consistency across languages.
Proud of the 2021-2023 edition of our classification, we welcome your feedback!
