Do You Want to LOINC® With Us?
Our NANDA-I Board of Directors recently attended the 2022 Nursing Knowledge: Big Data Science Conference at the University of Minnesota, United States. Please read Dr. Laura Rossi’s blog for more information on this event.
Among other topics, we discussed the importance of mapping terminology within the diagnostic criteria of NANDA-I diagnoses into LOINC®.
LOINC® is an organization that develops and advances open data standards to enable transmission understanding and use of health data by promoting terminology standards that are integrated into information systems. We know how important this accessibility is, so we are undertaking a project to map our terminology into LOINC®.
The goal of this project is to improve the quality of nursing documentation around the world.
In the 1990s, NANDA-I was the very first nursing terminology. So, this is not a new undertaking for us! We know how to map to other terminologies. In fact, our goal is to map to as many terminologies as possible to enable our terms to be as widely used as possible.
