Objectives

The INKA (formerly known as NANDA® International) Network Group: Dutch-Speaking Countries supports the use, development, and refinement of assessment-driven nursing diagnoses and related nursing knowledge across Dutch-speaking countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Suriname, Aruba, and Curaçao. As part of INKA (formerly NANDA International), the group promotes professional consistency, diagnostic accuracy, and shared understanding through a common nursing language.

A central objective of the group is to serve as a collaborative hub for Dutch-language expertise in assessment-driven nursing diagnoses. This includes supporting the careful translation, validation, and contextual adaptation of nursing diagnoses, as well as fostering their use in clinical practice, education, research, and health information systems. Through collaboration and knowledge exchange, the group strengthens clinical reasoning and supports the visibility and impact of nursing practice.

About Us

The INKA Network Group: Dutch-Speaking Countries is part of INKA and connects members of the global nursing association who share a common Dutch language and professional focus. INKA brings together members from more than forty countries across six continents, and assessment-driven nursing diagnoses are used internationally in practice, education, research, and digital health applications.

In the Netherlands, nursing diagnoses have been translated into Dutch since 1997, and a large community of nurses has worked to support their adoption and refinement. The INKA Network Group: Dutch-Speaking Countries was formally established in 2012 during the NANDA Biennial Conference, creating a structured forum for collaboration. Today, the group functions as the primary meeting point for Dutch-speaking nurses to exchange experiences, align with INKA position statements, and contribute to the ongoing development and consistent use of assessment-driven nursing diagnoses.

Events and Courses

The INKA Network Group: Dutch-Speaking Countries organizes and supports professional activities focused on assessment-driven nursing diagnosis and clinical reasoning. During network meetings and educational sessions, members discuss the application of assessment-driven nursing diagnoses and the measurement of care outcomes in clinical practice, education, and research.

Activities typically include meetings for knowledge exchange, discussion of new developments, and collaborative work related to translation, implementation, and diagnostic reasoning.
