Supporting Research that Advances Nursing Knowledge

The INKA Foundation offers competitive grant opportunities to support nursing research that advances the NANDA classifications and diagnosis-centered clinical reasoning, and contributes to the development of nursing knowledge worldwide.

Our grants are designed to support nurse researchers, particularly those pursuing practice-focused, early-stage, or innovative studies that may not be supported through traditional funding mechanisms.

What We Fund

The Foundation supports research projects that align with its mission to advance nursing science and improve patient care through the NANDA classifications and diagnosis-centered clinical reasoning.

Funded projects may include research that:

  • Advances or evaluates NANDA classifications and diagnosis-centered clinical reasoning
  • Develops, refines, or validates nursing diagnoses
  • Contributes to the generation of new nursing knowledge
  • Strengthens the application of nursing knowledge in education or clinical practice

Projects may be conducted in academic, clinical, or community settings and may involve international collaborators.

Grant Amounts

The NANDA Foundation typically awards small research grants, generally ranging from $1,500 to $3,000 USD.

These grants are intended to support specific components of a research project, such as:

  • Data collection or analysis
  • Research materials or tools
  • Pilot or feasibility studies
  • Dissemination of findings related to nursing knowledge

The Foundation does not fund tuition fees, fees for open-access publishing, regular office and computer equipment, travel expenses, or conference fees
