INKA Fellows

Recognizing Leadership in Nursing Knowledge Development

The community of INKA Fellows (formerly NANDA® International Fellows) represents nursing leaders with expertise in the NANDA classification across education, administration, clinical practice, informatics, and research.

INKA Fellows contribute their time, scholarship, and professional leadership to the Association in a variety of roles, supporting the ongoing development, refinement, dissemination, and responsible use of diagnosis-centered nursing classifications worldwide.

Fellows play an important role in strengthening nursing’s professional knowledge infrastructure and ensuring that nursing clinical judgment remains visible and consistently represented across healthcare systems internationally.

INKA welcomed its first class of Fellows during its 40th Anniversary Conference in 2012.

The Role of INKA Fellows

INKA Fellows are recognized for sustained professional leadership that advances the Association’s mission and vision. Fellows strengthen INKA’s work through long-term contributions to nursing knowledge development, including diagnosis-centered scholarship, education, research, and international engagement. They are often called upon when the Association is working on sensitive matters within their area of expertise, or when mentorship or advice is needed within the Board of Directors, during conferences and other key Association work.

Becoming an INKA Fellow

The INKA Board of Directors invites individuals who have been active members of the Association for a minimum of ten years to apply to become a Fellow.

Fellows represent all areas of nursing practice and scholarship, including:

  • Nursing administration
  • Clinical practice
  • Education
  • Informatics
  • Research

Consideration for Fellowship focuses on an individual’s contribution to advancing INKA’s mission through:

  • Active participation in the Association
  • Meaningful contributions to NANDA classification development or dissemination
  • Leadership in education, research, implementation, or professional service
  • Support for nursing knowledge development internationally

Becoming an INKA Fellow is a recognition of sustained commitment to advancing nursing as a knowledge-based discipline.

Fellows by Class Year

INKA Fellows have been inducted in formal classes over time, beginning with the inaugural class welcomed during the Association’s 40th Anniversary Conference in 2012. Each class reflects the growing international community of nurse leaders who have contributed to nursing knowledge development and the advancement of the NANDA classifications.
