A transformative change is coming to our organization, one that better reflects our expanding mission and vision in the nursing field. We’re excited to share the details of this evolution with our global nursing community.
A Bold New Chapter Begins
As we continue to navigate a dynamic and ever-evolving healthcare landscape, this important update signals a bold new chapter for our association. Long-time members will recall that pre-pandemic, our members strongly supported – and voted – to adopt a new name that better reflects our mission and vision: International Nursing Knowledge Association.
While the pandemic temporarily paused our full transformation, we’re now taking decisive steps forward. We’ve engaged a professional branding agency to guide us through this transformation. Together, we’re exploring how best to represent who we are, what we do, and—most importantly—who we serve.
Supporting Our Diverse Healthcare Community
Our renewed identity speaks to everyone we serve, including nursing students who are building the foundations of clinical reasoning, professors and researchers who generate and test the knowledge that drives practice, and nurses in practice who use standardized language to deliver safer, more consistent care.
We also serve nurse administrators and leaders who shape systems of care, nurse informaticists who ensure knowledge is captured and visible in digital environments, and Electronic Health Record vendors, whose platforms must reflect nursing’s distinct and critical contributions to patient care.
More Than Just a Name Change
This evolution represents a deeper transformation for our organization. This rebranding initiative is not just about a new name or a redesigned logo. It’s about articulating the full scope of our purpose. While nursing diagnosis remains a cornerstone of our work, it is part of a much broader ecosystem of nursing knowledge development, clinical judgment, and evidence-informed decision-making.
Building on Our Legacy
We are not discarding our history—we are building on it, embracing a future that is more inclusive, more expansive, and more reflective of the critical role nursing plays in health systems across the globe.
This alignment also extends to our publications: Our journal, International Journal of Nursing Knowledge, already reflects this, and aligning our Association name with the journal reinforces our dedication to coherence, growth, and innovation.
Looking Ahead Together
Over the coming months, you’ll begin to see more visible changes. This rebranding is a journey we are undertaking with you and for you. We invite our entire nursing community to join us in this exciting transformation as we are shaping the future of nursing—one concept, one decision, and one transformation at a time.
Stay connected with us as we unveil more elements of our new identity in the coming months. This evolution reflects not just who we are becoming, but the vital role our members play in advancing nursing knowledge worldwide.
