We are pleased to announce this year’s recipients of the NANDA Foundation Grant Award and Marjory Gordon Research Scholarship Awards, so they can continue to advance nursing diagnostic knowledge through their important research!
NANDA Foundation Grant
The NANDA Foundation Grant has been awarded to Drs. Marcos Venícios de Oliveira Lopes, Maickol Jhoel Tirado Castro, and Reinaldo Gutierrez Barreiro for their validation study of the nursing diagnosis “Impaired Peripheral Neurovascular Function.”
Marjory Gordon Research Scholarship Award
This year, two teams received the prestigious Marjory Gordon Research Scholarship Award.
The first team will study the accuracy of the nursing diagnosis “Excess Fluid Volume” in adults with Decompensated Heart Failure, using comparative analysis with point-of-care lung and inferior vena cava ultrasound.

The second award supports Cristina Barradas, PhDc, MSc, RN and Sílvia Caldeira, PhD, MSc, PGDip, RN and their research on decisional conflict in families of critically ill patients, focusing on conceptual and qualitative validity of the nursing diagnosis.
These awards honor Dr. Marjory Gordon’s legacy. She was recognized as a Living Legend of the American Academy of Nursing, who advanced nursing diagnosis globally and developed the Eleven Functional Health Patterns framework. Through the Marjory Gordon Program for Nursing Knowledge Development and Clinical Reasoning, established in partnership with Boston College’s Connell School of Nursing, we continue to support research that strengthens standardized nursing language and clinical reasoning.
