Emerging Educational Opportunities at NANDA®-I: Learning in Community and Exploring NANDA 360

Throughout the year and between biannual conferences, NANDA-I Committees, Partners, and the Board of Directors are hard at work developing educational materials that support ongoing innovation and advancement. Some of these materials, such as the NANDAcast and webinars, are regularly updated with publicly available content. Others, such as developing curricular materials for NANDA 360 and planning the 2027 conference, are not readily accessible throughout their development. This post is intended to update NANDA-I members on two exciting emerging educational initiatives: curriculum development for the inaugural NANDA 360 Institute and conference planning for the 2027 conference in Navarre, Spain.

NANDA 360

At the end of 2025, NANDA-I leadership announced the release of NANDA 360, an integrated classification with a unified taxonomy that supports the formulation, validation, and clarification of clinical reasoning. In this announcement, NANDA-I leadership shared the intention to host the inaugural invitational NANDA 360 Institute to provide education, training, and orientation for educators, researchers, and clinicians to prepare for adoption.

Leading scholars, educators, and clinicians in Nursing and Education are developing the curriculum for the inaugural invitational NANDA 360 Institute, to be held at Boston College in the summer of 2026.

The Institute’s curriculum will focus on learning activities centered on the evolution and purpose of NANDA 360, its implementation in curriculum and practice, and its use in information systems, policy, and research. Participants in this week-long intensive institute will spend their days engaging in a range of learning experiences, including lectures from leaders in the field, case studies, discussions with colleagues from diverse professional areas and geographic backgrounds, and visits to Boston College-specific resources such as the NANDA Archives.

Although this inaugural institute will be limited in size, NANDA-I leaders will use lessons learned to inform ongoing curriculum development for NANDA-I membership and the public. Those who are unable to attend the Institute but are interested in learning more about the Institute and its curriculum can attend the 2027 Conference in Navarre, Spain, to learn about NANDA 360 and its implementation.

2027 Conference in Navarre, Spain

Local and organizational leaders have been diligently planning the next biannual conference, which will be hosted by the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Navarre, Spain. During this exciting period of organizational evolution, the Scientific Committee is excited to incorporate feedback from previous conferences to plan what they hope will be the most engaging conference in organizational history. In addition to programming that highlights advances in the field, the 2027 Conference will build on the NANDA 360 Institute. Although the Conference will not focus solely on NANDA 360, organizers aim to give more people the opportunity to learn about and discuss this integrated classification, with a unified taxonomy that supports the formulation, validation, and clarification of clinical reasoning. Conference attendees can share implementation opportunities and strategies in small groups, learn about new research activities underway globally, and meet with NANDA-I leaders, global nursing leaders, and the developers of NANDA 360. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to visit beautiful Navarre, Pamplona, Spain, and enjoy the local cuisine, arts, architecture, and culture. As with previous conferences, there will be a Gala and Award Ceremony to celebrate outstanding achievements and significant contributions to the field. Information about the abstract submission process will be released in Spring 2026.
