The NANDA-I international conference in Lisbon brought together nursing professionals from 25 countries around the world. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Universidade Católica Portuguesa for hosting, and appreciate the tireless work of our conference committee, led by Dr. Silvia Caldeira, alongside our fantastic Boston College team members, Drs. Dorothy Jones and Natalie Borg.

The conference featured 61 research papers and 93 poster presentations, demonstrating the ongoing research and innovation of standardized nursing terminology worldwide. Thank you to everyone who contributed their work!

Our keynote speakers offered valuable insights into current challenges in nursing.

Dr. Danny Willis, Dean of the University of Rhode Island College of Nursing, presented “Well Becoming” as a nursing phenomenon. His research on trauma, healing, and well-being offers practical applications for patient care. His work on “facilitating humanization, meaning, choice, quality of life, and healing in living and dying” provides a foundation for understanding nursing’s central focus. He also gave us ideas about developing a wellness nursing diagnosis, outcomes and interventions.

Dr. Jane Flanagan, Editor of the International Journal of Nursing Knowledge, addressed the role of nursing knowledge in interdisciplinary care. Her presentation examined how nursing expertise contributes to collaborative healthcare delivery, drawing from her experience as a nurse scientist and practitioner.

Thank you to all conference participants who attended and shared their work, contributed their knowledge, and connected with other attendees. Your contributions help advance standardized nursing language globally. We look forward to seeing you again in 2027!
