Supporting Transparent and Current Governance

The Bylaws Committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding the ongoing currency of the Association’s bylaws through a structured process of review and revision. The Committee helps ensure that INKA’s (formerly NANDA® International) governing framework remains accurate, current, and aligned with the evolving scope and responsibilities of the Association.

The Committee solicits suggestions from the membership prior to each General Assembly regarding the need for change. In other cases, the Committee may draft revisions and updates for review by the Board. The Bylaws Committee reviews the bylaws at least every two years.

Strategic Responsibilities

The Bylaws Committee is responsible for overseeing bylaws revisions, including:

  • Managing the review and revision process
  • Ensuring members have an opportunity to comment on proposed changes
  • Collating feedback and presenting revisions as appropriate
  • Supporting membership voting processes when bylaws changes are proposed

Bylaws Review and Member Comment Process

Bylaws updates follow a structured and transparent approach:

  • Proposed revisions are posted for member review for a 30-day feedback period
  • The Committee compiles and summarizes member comments
  • This summary is submitted to the Board of Directors for consideration prior to a vote
  • Once the Board reaches a decision, the Chair of the Bylaws Committee communicates the outcome to the membership

Only INKA professional members (nurses who are licensed to practice) are eligible to comment on or vote on bylaws revisions.

All comments or recommendations should be sent directly to the Chair of the Bylaws Committee:

To preserve the independence and integrity of the Bylaws Committee’s review process, we respectfully request that member comments be submitted only to the Committee Chair, rather than copied to members of the Board or the CEO.
