Supporting Leadership and Professional Governance

The Nominations Committee plays a key role in supporting INKA’s (formerly NANDA ® International) governance and leadership continuity by overseeing the nominations and election process for elected positions within the Association. The chair of this committee is elected by the members, along with at least 50% of the committee members; the chair may also appoint up to 50% of the members. This committee operates completely independently of the INKA Board of Directors.

Through a structured and transparent process, the committee helps ensure that INKA’s Board of Directors and standing committee leadership reflect the expertise, professionalism, and global perspective required to advance nursing knowledge development internationally.

Committee Responsibilities

The Nominations Committee is responsible for soliciting and reviewing nominations from the membership for:

  • Officers and voting members of the Board of Directors
  • Chairpersons and members of the Bylaws Committee
  • Members of the Nominations Committee

The committee’s duties include:

  • Soliciting nominations from eligible members
  • Accepting nomination applications and required documentation
  • Reviewing qualifications as established in INKA’s policies
  • Preparing the official ballot upon completion of the nomination process

The Nominations Committee works closely with the Association’s Program Assistant to conduct voting in an accurate and timely manner.

Voting Process and Reporting

Following the completion of voting, the Chairperson requests a report of the voting results from the Program Assistant. The results are then formally presented:

  1. To the Board of Directors
  2. To the General Assembly

This process supports member participation and helps ensure transparent leadership selection within the Association.
