Introduction
Retired Membership is available to nurses age 65 and older who are no longer working full time. (Not for Retired Fellows – please see the Fellows page).
Many retired nurses continue to shape the profession through mentorship, committee service, scholarship, and participation in professional dialogue. Retired Membership provides a meaningful way to remain engaged in the advancement of assessment-driven, diagnosis-centered clinical reasoning and standardized nursing language.
Retired Members contribute to the ongoing refinement of nursing diagnoses, patient goals and outcomes, and nursing actions while staying connected to colleagues across diverse healthcare systems worldwide.

Governance & Voting
Retired Members retain voting rights provided they maintain their professional nursing license.
Eligible Retired Members may:
- Vote in INKA business meetings
- Vote on bylaws
- Vote for officers and committee chairs
- Serve on committees
- Run for office or serve on the Board of Directors
- Serve as Global Network Group Coordinators
Retired Membership ensures that experienced nurses continue to have a voice in shaping the future of nursing knowledge.
Membership Duration
Retired Membership is a two-year membership term.
Membership fees follow INKA’s three-tier pricing structure aligned with World Bank national income classifications. Final pricing is determined during checkout based on country category.
