NANDA 360 Task Force

Overview

The NANDA® 360 Task Force guides the development, oversight, and strategic direction of NANDA 360, an expanded and unified nursing classification and assessment-driven, diagnosis-centered clinical reasoning framework designed to strengthen nursing knowledge, education, research, practice, and digital implementation. This Task Force ensures that NANDA 360 reflects the evolving needs of nurses globally and aligns with INKA’s mission to advance standardized nursing knowledge and practice.

NANDA 360 addresses long-standing challenges in nursing language integration by providing a cohesive framework that links assessment to diagnosis, diagnosis to patient outcomes and goals, and outcomes to evidence-based nursing actions, supporting coherent clinical reasoning across settings.

Purpose & Focus

The purpose of the NANDA 360 Task Force is to:

Provide strategic oversight for the development and refinement of NANDA 360
Facilitate collaboration among clinicians, educators, researchers, and informaticians to ensure NANDA 360 meets diverse needs
Guide alignment between NANDA 360 and global education, research, practice, and informatics priorities
Support the launch and implementation of the NANDA 360 Institute
Ensure that NANDA 360 remains evidence-based, clinically relevant, inclusive, and adaptable across global healthcare systems

This work contributes to INKA’s broader goal of making nursing knowledge visible, interoperable, and usable across clinical, educational, and research environments.

Current Priorities & Goals

Integrated Classification Development

Oversee the unified classification structure that incorporates nursing diagnoses, patient goals and outcomes, and nursing actions into a streamlined reasoning framework.

Evidence-Based Framework Refinement

Ensure that all linkages between assessment findings, diagnoses, outcomes, and actions are grounded in current scientific evidence, and that the framework continues to evolve with new research.

Educational Alignment

Develop resources, guidance, and support for educators to integrate NANDA 360 into curricula, ensuring coherence between classroom learning and clinical reasoning application.

Research Enablement

Support researchers by reinforcing the standardized data structure that makes nursing phenomena measurable, comparable, and publishable across diverse settings.

Digital Integration & Standards

Coordinate efforts with informaticians and standards organizations to promote interoperability and practical implementation of NANDA 360 within electronic health records and health information systems.

NANDA 360 Institute Implementation

Guide the operational launch of the NANDA 360 Institute, which will provide education, training, consultation, and implementation tools for educators, clinicians, researchers, and health systems.

Expertise or Selected Work

The Task Force brings together nurses, educators, researchers, informaticians, and strategic partners who contribute expertise in:

Standardized nursing language and taxonomy
Clinical reasoning and care planning
Curriculum design and educational innovation
Research methodology and evidence synthesis
Health informatics, EHR integration, and data standards

Members advise on content development, evidence linkage, implementation guides, and global usability of NANDA 360.

Participation

Participation on the NANDA 360 Task Force is based on relevant expertise and the strategic needs of the Task Force. Individuals with interest and appropriate experience may express interest through the INKA governance process for consideration by the Director of the Task Force and the INKA Board of Directors.
