Clinical Judgment & Decision-Making: The Power of Using Functional Health Patterns (In English)
April 13 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Presenters: Dr. Rita de Cassia Gengo e Silva Butcher, PhD, RN, MSN, MSc, FNI, Assistant Professor, Florida Atlantic University
With new Essentials for Professional Nursing Education and the Next Generation NCLEX, there is a renewed focus on teaching and evaluating clinical judgment and decision-making skills. The presenter will provide an overview of functional health patterns (FHPs) and address how FHPs can facilitate clinical judgment and decision-making among nursing students and nurses. In fact, the use of FHPs makes it easier for nursing students and nurses to organize clinical information, make clinical judgments, and connect nursing diagnoses, interventions, and outcomes. Engaging learning strategies and an opportunity for Q & A will be part of the workshop.
Learning Outcomes: At the end of the workshop, learners will be able to:
- Describe the use of functional health patterns as a way for nursing students and nurses to better assess patient needs and impact patient outcomes;
- Apply functional health patterns as a framework to facilitate clinical judgment and decision-making in clinical practice and nursing education
Language: This event will be in English; and will be presented in Portuguese on April 18, 2023.
