NANDA Foundation Update

April 15, 2021

The NANDA Foundation is the sibling not-for-profit of NANDA International and was founded by Dr. Dorothy Jones to provide scholarships for research projects in nursing science and particularly topics related to the development and refinement of standardised nursing terminologies and their use in practice. Further information is available under the NANDA Foundation tab here on the website.

2020 / 21 has been an quiet year for the Foundation for obvious reasons, as nurses have prioritised their clinical responses to the pandemic. However, we have approved new bylaws during this time, appointed some new Directors and awarded five grants about which further information will be provided soon. Watch this space!

We have also launched a new grant category ‘The Gerard Stone Award for Nursing Informatics’. Further information about fundraising will be available in due course and it is hoped that the first grant will be awarded in 2022.

Our 2021 call for grant applications has now closed and these are being considered. It is hoped that an announcement will be made at the time of the NANDA International 2021 Conference.

The Foundation’s President and Directors salute all colleagues worldwide who have served, and continue to serve, with such professionalism and dedication during the pandemic. Whether you are in primary care, emergency, ICU or vaccination centres or, importantly, managing and leading non-Covid services with fewer staff, YOU are all an inspiration. Words cannot convey how much we respect you and thank you for your service.
