Spotlight on One Unique Contribution Awardee: Dr. Silvia Caldeira
Silvia Caldeira – nominated by Drs. Camila Takao Lopes & Emilia Campos de Carvalho
Dr. Caldeira has high quality publications on validation of nursing diagnoses and conceptual frameworks, with 150 articles. She has proposed reflection upon the use of the NANDA-I axes, and the structure of syndrome diagnoses. Based on such expertise, she served as a guest co-author of the chapter, Specifications and Definitions within the NANDA International Taxonomy of Nursing Diagnoses, in the book, NANDA International Nursing Diagnoses: Definitions and Classification, 2021-2023.
As the coordinator of the NANDA-I Portugal Network Group from 2014-2020, she contributed to the introduction, use, teaching and research of the NANDA-I classification in Portugal. She has served as a member of the DDC since 2014. Specifically, in the 2021-2023 edition of the NANDA-I Classification, she contributed to the revision of three diagnoses, in addition to her regular work as a member of the DDC.
As an educator, she is the advisor of several masters’ and doctoral students validating nursing diagnoses or studying diagnostic foci.
She has also been serving as a member of the Editorial board of the International Journal of Nursing Knowledge since September 2019.
