Proposed Bylaws Changes
NANDA-I has been undergoing a transition from a “stand alone” international membership association to that of an international association with an academic center partner: The Marjory Gordon, Ph.D., R.N., FAAN Program for Clinical Reasoning and Knowledge Development at Boston College. This partnership provides a home base for the association, with a focus on research for development and refinement of nursing diagnoses, and educational methods to support clinical integration of the terminology into practice. More broadly, the Gordon Program enables a focus on development of nursing knowledge and clinical reasoning; nursing diagnoses represent the outcomes of clinical reasoning, and provide standardized terms for nursing knowledge concepts.
This partnership provides NANDA-I with access to skills and services that the Association did not have available on its own. As such, the bylaws of the Association now require revision to reflect the changes that this Partnership with Boston College affords us.
Bylaws revisions will be posted for member review in November 2024, and will remain open for 30 days. The bylaws committee will then prepare a summary of the member comments for review by the Board of Directors, prior to its vote on the proposed bylaws revisions. Once the bylaws have been voted upon, the Chair of Bylaws will be notified, and will notify the membership of the outcome of the vote.
Only NANDA-I members are able to comment on or vote on the Bylaws. All comments or recommendations for revision should be sent directly to the Chair of the Bylaws Committee, Dr. Pauline Green, at: bylaws@nanda.org
In order to preserve the autonomy of the Bylaws Committee, we ask that you do not copy your comments to any member of the Board of Directors or the CEO of NANDA-I.
